What are the check-in and check-out times?

The hostel is open for checking-in and checking-out from 8:00-9:00 am and 5:00 pm-midnight.
The hostel is closed from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm – use the time to explore Jerusalem!
The hostel reopens from 5:00 pm until midnight.
The hostel is open 5:00 pm-1:00 am on weekends.

On Fridays the hostel opens at 2 pm.

How much does it cost?

20 Israeli shekels (about $US 5) for the weekdays
25 Israeli shekels (about $US 6) for Shabbat including an optional home hospitality program

Is the cost a typo?

No, it’s not a typo! Heritage House is a not-for-profit youth hostel, which means our prices are easy on your budget. 🙂

What are the rooms like?

Do I need to bring my own linens and towels?

Of course not!  They are provided.

What other facilities do you provide?

Air-conditioning/heat, free wifi, cooking facilities and utensils, laundry.
Laundry costs 10 Israeli shekels (US$2.5) which includes washing, drying and detergent.

What kind of people will I meet?

You’ll have a fantastic opportunity to meet Jewish young adults from all over the world.

What if I don’t know what to do between 9 and 5 when the hostel is closed?

That’s never a problem!  Our experienced, friendly staff love recommending what YOU would enjoy.  They’re available to give ideas, help you plan your day, and answer any questions you might have.

Are there any expectations of me as a guest?

Since everyone is living in a shared spaced, basic respect and consideration is appreciated by all.

Do I need to book in advance or can I just show up?

It is advisable to book in advance but you can also show up.

How long can I stay?

Most guests stay a few days or a few weeks…you can play it by ear.

How often is the hostel cleaned?


Where can I store my luggage?

There is ample space to store your luggage in the hostel throughout your stay.  There is a also a safe to store your valuables.

Are there stores and restaurants nearby?

There are plenty of convenience stores and restaurants in the Old City.  Don’t worry, you can get your hummos in less than 5 minutes.  There are also bagel, burger, grill and pizza restaurants.
